Meet the Team

Dr. Gayla Sahl,Ph.D.

About Me

Hi I’m Gayla, I completed my undergraduate education at Hardin-Simmons University and my doctoral training at Texas Woman’s University. I have experience working at a college counseling center, an obstetrics/gynecology office (as an in-house therapist), and I’ve worked many years in the group practice setting. When I’m not working, I like spending time with my family and dog. My other passion is spending time socializing and working out at my CrossFit gym.

Counseling Style

I would describe my counseling style as collaborative. Although I am a trained counselor, my patients are experts on their lives. I attempt to work together with my patients to help them meet their goals. I often find that it is our negative thoughts and our inability to be authentic in our relationships that cause emotional distress. As a result I help patients do two things. I help them identify and change negative thoughts that are causing them difficulties. Secondly, I help them to be authentic in expressing their true thoughts and feelings. I also provide a space for people to talk about their religion or spiritually if that is of importance to them and their therapy.
